The embroidered trucker caps threaded Ponygirl’s needle in 2006 when V Smiley started buying Trucker caps to wear while working at the Casbah Cafe in Los Angeles’ Silverlake neighborhood. V started sticking the bills and faces of the hats with simple running stitches of purple and turquoise on bright orange. People liked them. V made a small collection of more complicated designs.
